Metal mirrors
We have made mirrors for lasers and scientific instruments from a wide variety of metals and alloys. Often a mirror is made from a metal chosen for properties other than reflectivity, such as it's hardness, melting point, thermal expansion, or magnetic properties. Although Laser Beam Products make mirrors aimed at optical applications, many of our customers need extremely precise polished metal parts for their own uses. Nanometre flatness, arc second parallelism, and angstrom level surface roughness are beyond conventional machining.
Semiconductor inspection equipment, precision mating surfaces for seals, alignment aids for scientific instruments, all use our precision lapped or polished surfaces.
Our double sided lapping, and double sided polishing equipment can generate parts with variations in edge thickness of just 1 micron.
Similar specifications are available on polished ceramics, alloys, and CVD materials.
Over 20 years we have lapped and polished many different materials such as
Stainless Steel |
Tungsten |
Graphite |
Bronze |
Brass |
Titanium |
Ceramics |
Mild Steel |
Nickel |
Arcap Alloy |
Electroless Nickel |
Crystals |
If you have a need for extreme precision please send us an enquiry. We welcome the challenge of developing process methods for lapping and polishing new materials. We have supplied lapped and polished parts for fibre optic connectors, medical implants, Formula 1 racing, nuclear installations, and the food industry.
